Our Western Massachusetts real estate team made the gift in memory of Shalene Friedhaber, a beloved agent and member of the REALTOR® community, to help expand free programs for local cancer survivors.

A Western Mass Brokerage Giving Back to Its Community
On September 30, 2025, WWLP 22News reported that Cuoco & Co. Real Estate had donated more than $50,000 to CHD's Cancer House of Hope. The story, filed from Longmeadow by reporter Sara Bien-Aime, covered why our team chose this cause and what the money will make possible for people living with and beyond cancer in Western Massachusetts.
The decision was personal. Our operations manager, Alyssa Stout, told WWLP that Shalene had been part of every team event, and that after her passing we wanted to give in her honor. Our team visited Cancer House of Hope, saw firsthand the support Shalene received during her own fight with cancer, and worked closely with her family so the gift would reflect her memory.
Margaret Toomey, program director at CHD's Cancer House of Hope, described the donation to WWLP as a sign of the community support that runs through Western Mass. We see it the same way. The families we help buy and sell homes in Wilbraham, Longmeadow, East Longmeadow, Springfield and across Hampden County are the same neighbors this program serves.

What the Donation Supports
CHD's Cancer House of Hope offers free programs designed to improve quality of life for cancer survivors. According to WWLP, our gift will help the program grow its offerings, including:
- Free spa treatments for survivors
- Therapeutic horseback riding
- Other no-cost services that support survivors and their families
With as many as 215 visitors in a month, Cancer House of Hope reaches a large share of the Western Massachusetts community. We are proud that our clients, agents and partners helped make this contribution possible.
